Course Delivery Options
Courses are offered to Academy students on Columbus campus, as well as all of our regional campuses (located in Lima, Marion, Mansfield, Newark and Wooster). Classes are typically taught in person on campus, but may also be taught online or in a hybrid delivery.
Course Funding
Ohio State is using the default model as defined in Ohio Revised Code. The university is not entering into any alternative funding agreements and is not signing individual MOUs for College Credit Plus.
The state College Credit Plus program will allow students from public schools to enroll in a maximum of 30 credit hours in an academic year (summer, autumn, and spring semesters). Students who wish to enroll in courses above the maximum limit will be responsible for the full cost of tuition and fees for these additional courses.
Student Activities and College Credit Plus
While students in the OSU Academy/College Credit Plus may take advantage of many of the resources of the university, there are a few limits on their involvement with the university.
-
Academy students are not eligible to participate in Marching Band (TBDBITL)
-
Academy students cannot play a varsity sport for Ohio State
-
Academy students cannot participate in the Greek System (Fraternities and Sororities)
-
Academy students are not able to use their Buck IDs to ride the COTA Buses around Columbus
-
Academy students do not receive automatic access to the RPAC (Recreational and Physical Activities Center) but may opt to purchase a membership
-
Academy students are not eligible to live in on campus housing
-
Academy students may not participate in study abroad programs.
Student Handbook, Grading Policies, etc.
Academy students are:
- Subject to the rules, regulations, and code of responsibility applicable to all Ohio State students. The student code addresses issues such as Academic Misconduct. Ohio State defines “academic misconduct” as “Any activity that tends to compromise the academic integrity of the university or subvert the educational process.”
- Subject to the same grading standards as all other Ohio State students.Grades are recorded on a permanent transcript. Courses are at the collegiate level and will be more demanding than high school courses in pace and content. Courses may include adult content; faculty are not asked to revise this content for younger students in the classroom.
Future Plans
Students who participate in the OSU Academy/College Credit Plus may be interested in attending Ohio State after high school graduation. Participation in the OSU Academy does not guarantee admission as a degree-seeking student to the Columbus campus. Students will need to complete the application for admission by all posted deadlines. Course credit and grades will be included on the OSU transcript, and will count toward the official Ohio State grade point average.
